BIOGRAPHY

Marco Pagani (b. 1983, Saronno, Italy) is a multimedia artist who works across sculpture, painting, and video.

Having lived in several continents, Pagani draws upon his international perspective to seamlessly blend a range of visual languages, from the technical precision of Greco-Roman relief sculpture to the vibrant color palette and graphic quality of Japanese Manga and American Pop Art.

A confluence of mediums, materials, and cultural references, Pagani’s practice is equally inspired by art history as it is by personal memories.

Often depicting scenes,  gestures, or objects related to soccer, food still lifes, and landscapes, the artist explores those subjects that compose the fabric of his life with a philosophically rigorous, technically complex approach.

While his practice can be divided into three distinct bodies of work — hand-painted relief panels, sculptures, and animated videos —  all of Pagani’s projects share an interstitial quality, existing between representation and abstraction, referencing both eastern and western aesthetics, and honoring the historic while embracing the contemporary. The artist currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
